Romy Petrick, soprano, made her stunning debut at the Dresden Semperoper in 2008 under the baton of Jonathan Darlington in the world premiere of Manfred Trojahn’s opera La grande magia. In 2009, she became a member of the Dresden Semperoper, where she performed the roles of Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Mozart), Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel (Humperdinck), Musetta in La Bohème (Puccini), Adele in Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss), Nanetta in Falstaff (Verdi), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (Strauss), and Fiakermilli in Arabella (Strauss). She also performed Blonde at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and Theater Erfurt. In 2011, she made her debut at De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam as one of the main roles in Manfred Trojahn’s world premiere of Orest under the baton of Marc Albrecht. She has also worked with many prestigious conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Asher Fisch, Julia Jones, and Hans-Christoph Rademann. In 2015, she performed Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto as a guest artist at Theater Erfurt and Ännchen in Weber’s Der Freischütz at the DomStufen-Festspiele festival.

Born in Germany, Ms. Petrick studied at the Carl Maria von Weber University in Dresden. She coached Lied with Olaf Bär and interpretation of old music with Andreas Scholl at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 2006, she received the Carl Maria von Weber-Scholarship and in 2009 she was a finalist at the Cantilena-Competition in Bayreuth.

Additionally, a sought-after concert artist, Ms. Petrick’s recent engagements include performances with Staatskapelle Dresden and Virtuosi Saxoniae. She has also performed at Frauenkirche Dresden, Concert Hall Berlin and the Konzerthaus Berlin. In 2013, she performed Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with the Korean Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, South Korea under the baton of Hee-Chuhn Choi.

Her album, Dresdner Lieder, is a fine collection of mostly unknown lieder, all composed in Dresden. It was released in 2011 and features Liana Bertók on the piano. It includes selections by Naumann, Paër, Weber, Marschner, Reissinger, Clara and Robert Schumann, Schneider, and Immisch. 2018 is coming a new album with songs of the unknown composer Johann Gottlieb Naumann.
